    The Dietary Aide serves food and baked goods and prepares fluids while complying with nutritional standards, government regulations, and internal procedures. The ideal candidate has at least two years of experience in a long term care or continuing care setting or experience in food service. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation and proper food handling techniques a plus. He or she must have the physical ability to perform all aspects of this job (lifting, standing, bending, etc.), must be reliable and trustworthy, and must pay attention to detail and take pride in his or her work.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
     
    Hours: Part-Time Evenings (Must Be Over Age 16)
     

     
     

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares fluids using procedures to maintain quality
    • Serves meals using procedures to maintain quality and sanitation
    • Dishes food items to maintain quality of prepared foods and baked goods
    • Puts stock away, which may require lifting, in a manner to prevent food spoilage
    • Maintains appropriate records to accurately represent the meals served and to monitor temperatures of equipment and food
    • Completes cleaning duties using proper procedures specific to the area being cleaned (dining room, dishroom, kitchen, etc.)
    • Washes dishes or cooking utensils following accepted standards of practice
    • Ensures proper storage to maintain quality of prepared food and baked goods
    • Ensures compliance with sanitation
    • Follows dress code including proper footwear to prevent accidents
    • Participates in designated committees and meetings
    • Helps with menu planning
    • Uses dietary equipment, once trained, to chop, blend, puree, etc.
    • Follows established policies and procedures
    • Follows HACCP standards and procedures
    • Attends monthly department meetings to stay informed of the department needs and changes in procedures
    • Trains new employees
    • Performs other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of experience in a long term care or continuing care situation or experience in food service is perferred
    • Must be able to read and interpret common recipes and production reports
    • Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job
